and moisture from the meridians,
body surface and organs
Moxibustion – how does it work?
Moxibustion or moxa is an ancient healing method from TCM. By using burning mugwort indirectly on the body, one reactively mobilizes the self-healing powers in the body. Moxibustion is applied specifically, selectively and preferably where acupuncture points are found on the body surface or where the main pain is located. Large areas of skin are treated, for example over joints or reflex zones of internal organs.
What happens during moxa therapy?
Moxa improves the blood circulation in the tissue, activates the metabolism and stimulates the production of red blood cells. The immune system is stimulated and the flow properties of the blood are improved, both locally and in general. The fluid pH value in the tissue changes towards alkaline, which has a positive effect on inflammatory processes. Moxa has a disinfectant effect, as it has a bactericidal action. It also has a calming effect and thus has a regulating effect on the nerve functions and thus positively influences stress symptoms and organ neuroses. All these effects are what make a Moxa therapy valuable.

For which complaints does moxibustion help?
The application possibilities are manifold, chronic diseases are one of the most frequent fields of treatment. Moxibustion also helps with widespread gynaecological disorders such as abdominal pain during menstruation.

Moxibustion in the Zug and Lucerne area
In TCM, body, mind and soul together define the human being and his or her well-being. Therefore, symptoms (complaints) can never be considered in isolation. Moxa supports the following processes:
- Alleviation of pain: The reason for this is that the energy flow is stimulated
- Regulation of bodily functions and internal organs: Yin and Yang are strengthened and coordinated during the therapy
- Anti-inflammatory effect: antibodies are activated
But not only physical complaints are among the treatment fields of moxibustion. By having a regulating effect on our nervous system, moxa can also alleviate mental suffering. People who suffer from depressive moods, feel exhausted and lacking energy can find their inner balance again through moxa therapy.
